In this episode of The Trauma Therapist | Podcast, I talk with Analie Shepherd, the award-winning author of Mending the Shattered Mirror: A Journey of Recovery from Abusive Therapy. Analie’s story is not an easy one to hear as she shares her experience of abuse at the hands of one of her therapists, and the steps she continues to take to heal.
Analie has been happily married for 38 years, is the loving mother of four wonderful children and has recently welcomed five precious grandchildren into her heart.
She recently retired from directing the children’s performing-arts program she founded 30 years ago, and is currently the director of her church choir and a community choir, and recently established her own community theater.
Analie owns, and plays, 18 different musical instruments, and spends hours creating paintings and drawings in her at-home art studio.
Although family has always been Analie’s greatest joy–music, art, theater, and dance have been her delight and life’s work. Fulfilling a life-long dream, Analie recently wrote and published an award-winning memoir; she is currently working on the publications of two illustrated children’s books.
Victims of abuse in therapy are doubly wounded as their worlds collapse in silence. In the midst of a society that has no frame of reference to understand what has happened to them.
