The Quote

It has been said, ‘time heals all wounds.’ I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.

What Led to the Specialization of Trauma?

George shares the history of his childhood and how it was impacted by several traumatic experiences.

A Crucial Early Mistake

George said that early on in his career he moved into working in the area of administration, for example, helping to manage and run community clinics. Getting away from clinical experience was the worst choice I could have ever made.

George’s Why

When I see the look in someone’s eyes when this magical transformation takes place, itt’s astounding to me. It’s like the person has found themselves.

George’s advice

  • Keep an open mind. What you’ve learned in school is good stuff, but keep an eye out for the new changes in what we’re learning about how the brain reacts to and is impacted by trauma.
