Learning How To Connect With Human Beings with JoAnn Lagace
JoAnn Lagace is an author, advocate, nonprofit founder, and woman in long-term recovery whose life has been shaped by trauma, resilience, and the decision to turn pain into purpose. In her memoir, Seeds in Shattered Soil, she shares an unfiltered journey through childhood trauma, addiction, mental health challenges, survival, recovery, and ultimately healing and self-acceptance
After more than 20 years in real estate, JoAnn changed the direction of her life and entered nonprofit work, eventually founding the National Animal Foster Network, a 501(c)(3) organization working to build infrastructure that helps keep people and their companion animals together during temporary human crises.
Today, JoAnn uses her lived experience to speak openly about trauma, recovery, mental health, the human-animal bond, and what it means to rebuild a life at any age. As she approaches her 60th birthday and the release of Seeds in Shattered Soil, her message is simple: our past may shape us, but it does not have to determine what we create next.
